The Oxygen Bar

An oxygen bar is a place where you inhale concentrated oxygen through a small tube placed in your nose, commonly known as a nasal cannula. The oxygen provided in our oxygen bar is enriched with aromas, such as essential oils, to make the experience more pleasant and relaxing.

This differs from the regular air we breathe, which contains about 21% oxygen. The oxygen offered in our oxygen bar has a concentration of 90–95%.

What Are the Benefits of Visiting an Oxygen Bar?

Many people report positive effects, such as:

  • Increased Energy: Higher oxygen intake can leave you feeling refreshed and more energetic, especially helpful when experiencing fatigue.
  • Mental Clarity: An increased flow of oxygen to the brain can enhance focus and concentration.
  • Headache Relief: Some individuals find that oxygen helps reduce headaches or head tension.
  • Stress Reduction: The combination of oxygen and soothing aromas can help alleviate stress and anxiety, promoting a sense of calm.
  • Post-Exercise Recovery: Oxygen can aid in recovering from physical exertion by helping the body eliminate lactic acid more quickly.

Which Aromas Are Best to Choose?

  • For Relaxation: Opt for lavender, chamomile, or vanilla.
  • For Energy and Focus: Choose peppermint, lemon, or orange.
  • For Colds or Breathing Issues: Eucalyptus can be soothing and provide relief.

Selecting the right aromas depends on your personal goals. Whether you’re seeking peace and calm or an energetic boost, the right scents can enhance your oxygen experience. It’s also important to listen to your body and experiment with different fragrances to discover what works best for you.

How Does an Oxygen Bar Work?

The oxygen in our oxygen bar is supplied by an oxygen concentrator, a device that extracts oxygen from the air and increases its concentration. The oxygen is then delivered to you through a small tube placed in your nose. Aromas are added using a diffuser that passes the oxygen through scented water, enhancing the experience.

Are Oxygen Bars Safe?

In general, inhaling concentrated oxygen at an oxygen bar is considered safe for healthy individuals, especially since sessions are typically short (5–20 minutes). However, it is not intended as a medical treatment. People with certain health conditions, such as respiratory disorders or lung diseases, should exercise caution before trying oxygen therapy.

That’s why at Healthcare Assist, only professionally trained (medical and paramedical) caregivers with an interest in complementary therapies are involved.

Your safety is our top priority!

Possible Limitations or Risks

  • Side Effects: While most healthy individuals experience no side effects, some may notice mild irritation, such as a dry nose.
  • Misconceptions About Medical Benefits: It’s important to understand that while oxygen can provide a temporary energy boost, it does not cure medical conditions.
  • Not Suitable for Everyone: People with severe lung diseases or those who require oxygen therapy for medical reasons should not use an oxygen bar without consulting a doctor.

Although scientific support for the benefits of oxygen bars is mixed, oxygen therapy continues to grow in popularity.

The Power of Deep Breathing and Oxygen Therapy

The combination of deep breathing and extra oxygen creates an accelerated and enhanced experience. While traditional breathwork sessions already offer many benefits, oxygen therapy allows for even deeper relaxation, increased energy, and faster recovery. For those seeking a way to revitalize themselves and achieve a profound sense of well-being, this combination can be a unique and healing experience.

Key Benefits

  • Stress Reduction: Deep breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping the body relax and reducing stress. This can be a powerful tool for easing anxiety and tension.
  • Emotional Processing: Breathwork is sometimes used to release stored emotions. Conscious breathing can help relieve tension in the body and process suppressed feelings.
  • Improved Respiratory Function: Many people breathe shallowly, which can negatively impact overall well-being. A breathwork session teaches you to breathe deeply and effectively, improving lung capacity and oxygen intake.
  • Better Focus and Mental Clarity: Breathing techniques help calm the mind, enhancing clarity and focus. This is especially valuable in a world where many people feel overwhelmed by constant stimulation.
  • Physical Relaxation: Conscious breathing relaxes the muscles and reduces bodily tension, offering a natural way to relieve pain or discomfort.
